The Troup County Sheriff’s Office announced an arrest was made last week in the murder and armed robbery at Ribitz Bait and Tackle on West Point Road.
Alonzo Rico Ford, 26, of Greenville was transported to Troup County Jail, where he faces charges of murder and armed robbery. This information was provided to LaGrange Daily News through an open records request filed with the sheriff’s office after the July 19 arrest.
Ford is accused of shooting Omprakash Patel, 61, in the abdomen as he and another man robbed the store at 5618 West Point Road shortly after 7 p.m. on Dec. 22. The clerk was taken to Columbus Regional Medical Center for surgery and died Jan. 8.
