Volunteers sought for schools prayer walk

The Troup Baptist Association WMU Leadership Team is seeking volunteers for a prayer walk all the schools in Troup County, including all private and Christian schools. The Troup Baptist Association’s WMU Team holds its annual prayer walk for Troup County schools. Participants meet at IHOP at 7 a.m. to get school assignments. Anyone who wants to prayer walk a campus but do not wish to attend the breakfast can contact Dottie Henson before the event. Email dottie@troupbaptist.com or call 706-884-1975.

Drivers needed for disabled veterans

The Disabled American Veterans van needs volunteer drivers to take veterans about once a month to VA medical centers. The van goes to Atlanta, East Point and Newnan each Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, and to Central Alabama Medical Center in Tuskegee on Tuesdays and Fridays. Volunteer drivers must be at least 19 years old, have a three-year clean driving record and pass a complete physical exam, which is provided free by the VA hospital. To volunteer as a driver or schedule a ride-along, call Dave Lyons at 706-882-7825.

Blood drives

To make an appointment for any blood drive, call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or visit redcrossblood.org. Upcoming blood drives are:

-12:30 to 6 p.m. Aug. 7 at First United Methodist Church, 401 Broad St. All donors will receive a free gift.

Foster children baby needs

The Children’s Attic needs donated play pens, high chairs, portable cribs, diapers and other baby items. The items are given to foster parents to use with their foster children. Donations are tax deductible and can be dropped off weekdays during business hours at AFSAN, 321 Greenville St.
