The incumbent tax commissioner, state court solicitor and probate judge – who all had opposition – won reelection Tuesday.
Tax commissioner Gary Wood bested Ken Boatwright, 52.1 percent to 47.9 percent. Solicitor Markette Baker beat Jeff Shattuck 65.72 percent to 34.28 percent. Probate Judge Donald Boyd won over challenger Larry Harris, 70.21 percent to 29.71 percent.
“I am humbled and honored to be reelected and I will do my best for the people of Troup County,” Boyd said. “I look forward to serving them.”
Baker thanked supporters on her Facebook page:
“I promise to continue to run an office where honesty and transparency are the top policies,” she said. “What I do isn’t about politics, it’s about carrying out justice. We are accomplishing so much good in the State Court of Troup County. I hope to continue to serve my community in this way. The good work we do will carry on. We will continue searching for new initiatives and solutions – no political sound bites, only hard work.”
Wood also thanked his supporters.
“I thank the citizens of Troup County for recognizing a proven record,” he said.
Boatwright also thanked supporters.
“I’d like to thank the citizens of Troup County who had the confidence to vote for me and I wish my opponent the best,” he said.
Harris and Shattuck could not be reached for comment.
