Friday

Vendors sell fresh produce, cheeses, honey, boiled peanuts and other items at Callaway Gardens Farmer’s Market from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Gardens’ Robin Lake Beach in Pine Mountain. Admission is free to the market through the beach entrance.

A Flashback to the ’80s event starts at 7 p.m. on Lafayette Square, where the band Doublewide Revival will play popular songs from the 1980s, a costume contest at 8:30 p.m. followed by a showing of the movie “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.” Participants for the costume contest need to register at the Downtown Development Authority tent between 7 and 7:30 p.m.

A senior dance is at 7 p.m. at the old Franklin Elementary School gym with a live band. Admission is $4.

Saturday

Local growers sell produce, cheeses, baked goods, plants and other locally made items at Market on Main from 8 to 10 a.m. in the parking lot behind Carmike Theater. Troup County extension agents Celeste Garrett and Randy Drinkard will be at the market to answer questions about food preservation, canning, gardening and summer horticulture.

A benefit ride to help with the medical expenses of Aiden Christopher Pike, who was born two months premature at Mike Patton Auto Mall on Lafayette Parkway. Registration is 8:30 a.m. with kick stands up at 10 a.m. Cost is $15 per bike. Donations for Aiden also can be made at BB&T under “Aiden’s Angels.” Ricky Funderburk, 706-672-2049

The Lagrange Troup County Humane Society’s 11th annual Fur Ball; Peace Love and Paws is 7 p.m. at Lafayette Garden Inn. Live entertainment and a silent auction will be held. Reservations are $40 per person, at the door will be $45 per person. To make reservations, call 706-298-3608, email people4paws@lagrangehumane.org, mail a check made out to LTCHS or credit card information to P.O. Box 1351, LaGrange, GA 30241. All proceeds go to help the homeless animals that come into the animal shelter.

The Friends of Hawkes Library in West Point hosts the “Come and Create” summer educational series from 2 to 4 p.m. with Becky Guinn teaching a unique method for creating watercolor flowers. The seminar is $25 for the general public. Costs of supplies is included. Pre-registration is required by calling 706-645-1549.
