Lights will span the tops of buildings, creating a canopy of sparkle overhead. Outdoor tables will be set up and can be reserved. Guests can order food from downtown restaurants as they listen to the music of Whiskey Bent, a popular band based in Columbus, Ga. The band will cover classic favorites like “Brown Eyed Girl,” “Fishing in the Dark” and “No Woman No Cry.”
“This has been one of the most successful and well-received events for the Downtown LaGrange Development Authority over the last several years,” said Suzanne Foody, executive director. “If you have never been to this event, our local downtown businesses encourage you to come and check it out.”
In addition, local businesses will have live music, including the Main Street Trio at The Basil Leaf; The Rubes at Ou La La; and a DJ playing 80s music at Lazy Peach.
“I had a huge crowd at Ou La La during Music Fest last year,” said Anise Morrison, business owner. “It’s a great event and I fully support the efforts of the DLDA to continue the tradition. Amidst great food, friends and music, what more do you need for a fun evening out in LaGrange?”
Business owner Becky Ivey also feels positively about the event downtown. “Music Fest was a big success last year. I stayed open during the event and people were still shopping in my store at midnight when the event ended,” said Ivey. “My doors will be open during this year’s Music Fest, too.”
The event will begin at 6 p.m. Outdoor tables may be reserved for $10 through the DLDA at 706-298-4534.
