Marisa Kathryn Acree and Curtis Jonathan Shields were married at 6:30 p.m. on June 23 at First United Methodist Church in LaGrange.

Officiating ministers of the double ring ceremony were the Rev. Walter Humphrey Henegar of Atlanta and the Rev. Timothy Joseph Udouj of Greenville, S.C.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Marc Edward Acree of LaGrange. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Benton Mills Lee of Polkton, N.C., the late Mr. Benton Mills Lee and the late Rev. and Mrs. Allen Troy Acree.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Curtis Shields of Birmingham, Ala. He is the grandson of Dr. Catherine Miller DuPree of Macon, the late Dr. Thomas Earl DuPree Sr., the late Ms. Mary Mildred Huston Shields and the late Mr. Dean William Shields.

Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride was attended by matron of honor, Mrs. Esta Acree Busby of Decatur, and maid of honor, Miss Claire Leone Acree of Dallas, Texas, both sisters of the bride.

Bridesmaids were Mrs. Laurel Meghan Birch of Baton Rouge, La.; Mrs. Sara Carol Cargo of St. Louis, Mo.; Mrs. Julie Parker Koon, Mrs. Katie Lynn Kump, Mrs. Darrah Lyn McGuire and Miss Katie Amelia Phillips of Atlanta; Mrs. Megan Smelley Martin of Athens and Miss Rachel Catherine Shields, sister of the groom, of Birmingham.

Flower girls were Miss Anne Harrell Busby and Miss Florence Charis Busby, nieces of the bride.

Mr. Joseph David Shields of Birmingham served as best man for his brother.

Groomsmen were Mr. Cole William Eppstein of Nashville, Tenn.; Mr. Brint Joseph Hardy of Birmingham; Mr. Christopher Lee Holby of Washington, D.C.; Mr. Matthew Frederick Mahla of Charlottesville, Va.; Mr. Daniel Edwards McKinney of Fair Hope, Ala.; Mr. Mason Callahan Peterson of Marietta; Mr. Joel Shane Robeson of Greenville, S.C.; Mr. Crawford Michael Stevener of Charlotte, N.C., and Mr. John Edward Trapp of Houston, Texas.

Ring bearers were Master David Lafayette Mincey IV and Master William Newton Mincey of Macon, cousins of the groom.

Following the ceremony, the parents of the bride hosted the reception at Del’avant.

After a honeymoon trip to Hawaii, the couple resides in Charlotte, N.C.
