Mr. Gay Shadix, 86, of LaGrange passed away Sunday, September 9, 2012, at his home. Mr. Shadix was born July 26, 1926 in Randolph County, Alabama, son of the late John J. and Mattie Rice Shadix. He was a member of Oakside Baptist Church and retired as parts salesman for Capital Auto Parts. Mr. Shadix was a baseball coach for the Troup County Recreation Department.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Ken and Serena Shaddix; grandchildren and their spouses, Sonya Jackson, Shane and Vicki Shaddix, and Shara Jenkins, all of LaGrange, and Brandi and Clay Clark of Woodbine; six great-grandchildren, Chase Jackson, Lacey Jackson, C.J. Clark, Lesley Ann Clark, Austin Shaddix and Dylan Youngquist; brother and sister-in-law, Julian and Bobbie Shadix of Trenton; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Linnie Shaddix; son, Lesley Shaddix and brother, John Shadix.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 Tuesday at Hunter-Allen-Myhand Chapel with Rev. Dwayne Shadix officiating. Interment will be in Shadowlawn Cemetery. The family will be at the home of his son and daughter-in-law, Ken and Serena Shaddix, at 467 Vernon Ferry Road, and receive friends at the funeral from 1:00 until 2:00 before the service.

Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made in memory of Mr. Gay Shadix to Hospice LaGrange, 1510 Vernon Road, LaGrange GA 30240, or the Alzheimer’s Association, Georgia Chapter, 41 Perimeter Center East, Suite 550, Atlanta GA 30346.
