Mrs. Allen, a native of Heard County, was born July 24, 1936 and was the daughter of the late Andrew Dix and Olivia Nelson. At a very young age, she united with the Central Baptist Church.Ernestine was educated in the public school system and was a homemaker for over 25 years. She was a loving and caring woman who carried many titles for both family and friends. To those who loved her most, she was Momma, Grandma, and ‘Gran-Gran’. She was the one to call when you were in need of laughter, encouragement, and food.
Ernestine leaves to continue her legacy, three daughters, Patricia D. Leath (Melvin); Felicia Yvonne Nelson; and Loretta Allen, all of LaGrange; three sons, Pierce Allen Jr., Paul Renee Allen, and Mark Anthony Allen; step-children, Gloria Stargill and William Cherry; god-daughter, Ida Ann Holloway; eleven grandchildren, Benjamin Leath (Salina); Paulette Coleman (Kenny), Erica Jones, Jennifer Edmondson, LaShondra Jones, Holle Leath, Malcolm Leath; Shaniqua Allen, all of LaGrange; Jarvia Allen, Clarissa Allen,and Shamika Allen, all of Fayetteville, NC; to remember her good hugs and kisses, twelve great-grandchildren that she loved and adored; five of those whose hearts she touched daily, Kourtney Grier, Demetrius Coleman, Asa Leath, Kyla Harris and Deshun Coleman, all of LaGrange; one sister, Barbara Jean Flowers; two sisters-in-law, Catherine Nelson and Ida Nelson; many nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and special friend, Robbie Lindsey.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Pierce Allen Sr.; a son, Timothy Allen; and two brothers, Forrest Nelson and Rev. Thomas Nelson.
The funeral service will be Friday at 11:00 AM at the Warren Temple United Methodist Church. Rev. W. T. Edmondson will officiate. Burial will be in the Shadowlawn Cemetery. The family will be at their home.
