Driver cited in crash of car, motorcycle

A motorist was cited in an accident that broke a motorcyclist’s leg.

Police said Tatum Healan, 20, of Ellijay was motioned by another driver to turn left out of Wendy’s restaurant at 303 Vernon St. on Friday night. When she did, she hit the motorcycle of Daniel Sutton, 24, of Park Place in LaGrange. Sutton told police he was eastbound in the center turning lane when Healan hit him.

Sutton was taken via helicopter to Emory Hospital in Atlanta with a broken right leg and other injuries. Emory had no information on him Saturday night.

Healan was charged with failure to yield.

Search for felon leads to drug arrests

West Point police looking for a wanted felon in the West Point housing project Friday arrested seven others after finding marijuana, cash and scales in the apartment.

Arrested were: Delani Scott, Kelvin Tucker, Mario Tucker, Dabias Scott, Adrian Gilliam, Adrian McFarland and Denatay Heard, all of West Point, but whose ages or street addresses were unavailable. All are charged with felony possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of a housing authority as well as a day care or playground, tampering with evidence, second-degree cruelty to children and possession of drug-related objects.

Police also seized 1.7 pounds of marijuana, $1,500, two scales and baggies used to package the drug.

Police: Woman broke into car

A woman who police spotted breaking into a car at Revis and Carver streets was arrested Saturday.

Sharon Crowley, 36, of Locust Street was charged with entering auto after an officer saw her get in the car and take a purse with $15 on the floorboard.

Police had set up the car with the purse and cash after several reports of similar crimes in the area.

A LaGrange woman was charged with strong-arm robbery by police after an incident Friday night on Pierce Street.

A man told officers he went to the residence of Priscilla Sprayberry, 21, of Pierce Street after making arrangements to meet with her during the day. Sprayberry, who was driving a cab parked in front of her house, talked with the victim while another man jumped out of the back of the cab and robbed the victim. Reports did not indicate what was taken, and the man has not been arrested.

Masked men threaten victim

A man closing La Colombiana at 306 Cherry St. told police Friday night that two men wearing masks ap-proached him as he left the store and waved what at first looked like an M-4 or M-16, pointing it at him.

The victim told police he believed the gun was plastic because the suspect was able to hold and point the weapon with one hand. The men never asked the victim for money or implied he was being robbed. They fled when the victim reached for his cell phone.

Theft

A 1911 Springfield .45 caliber rifle was taken from a van in front of a Valley Road house in Hogansville.

Identity fraud

A Givins Circle resident told Troup County deputies Friday that someone has been using his Social Security number to open several accounts.
