A motorcyclist riding without a helmet was hospitalized after colliding with a car.
Fred Fincher, 28, of Wilburn Avenue was passing another vehicle in a no-pass zone on Wilburn Avenue when he collided with a car and was thrown from the motorcycle about 4:15 p.m. Monday.
Fincher fractured his shoulder and suffered head injuries, including trauma to his skull, said LaGrange police Lt. Mark Kostial. He was flown to Columbus Regional Medical Center, where he was listed in critical condition. Police said Fincher has no driver’s license.
The other driver, Amberal McFarland, 26, of Freeman Street, was treated at West Georgia Medical Center and released.
Man charged
in stabbing
Troup County sheriff’s deputies accused a Hogansville man of stabbing another man with a knife after a verbal altercation in the 2300 block of New Hutchinson Mill Road on Sunday afternoon.
The suspect, Thomas McKeehan, 42, was charged with aggravated assault. The victim, Charles Matthews, 36, for whom no address was available, was treated at West Georgia Medical Center and released. No details were available.
Stolen golf cart involved in wreck
Troup County sheriff’s deputies accused a man of fleeing from the scene of an accident in a golf cart that he stole from a nearby residence in the 1700 block of Antioch Road on Sunday afternoon.
Cody Wynne, 24, of Lovic Davis Road was charged with felony theft by taking. Details on the accident were unavailable today.
Burglaries, thefts
— A man returned home from work Monday morning and saw a burglar run out his back door of his residence in the 900 block of Baldwin Street. Items stolen included an X-Box 360 valued at $400, a cell phone valued at $40 and other video games with a combined value of $110. The burglar had entered through a side window that was left partially open.
— A thief stole $428 worth of construction tools from a residence in the 200 block of McCall Street.
— A thief stole a $350 GPS navigation system and three cell phones for a combined value of $450 from a car in the parking lot of Cracker Barrel at 105 Hoffman Drive while the owner of the vehicle was eating at the restaurant.
— A thief stole $650 worth of electronic items, including a speaker system, from a car in the 2200 block of West Point Road.
