Mrs. Mary Lee Brooks Gates of LaGrange passed away Thursday at Hospice LaGrange.

Mrs. Gates, a native of Manchester, Meriwether County, Ga., was born August 8, 1934 and was the daughter of the late George and Lula Brooks. She was employed for many years at the Big Oak Drive Inn and later with the Wells Family Restaurant. She was retired from Parmer’s Cafe. She was a member of Saint Paul Baptist Church.

Survivors include her daughters: Minister Claudia Lee Phillips, Gladys Gates, Teresa Gates; son: Jessie Roy Gates; grandson whom she raised as a son: Johnny Lamar Gates; ten grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; Senior Companion: Mary Underwood; many other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Willie Claude Gates; and son, Minister Willie Cee Gates.

The funeral service will be Tuesday at 1:00PM at the Confidence Baptist Church. Rev. Michael Jackson will officiate. Burial will be in the Southview Cemetery.

The family will be at their home at 708 Hill Street.
