LaGrange police charged Khalid Rashun Hunter, 17, whose address was unavailable, with burglary after he was identified as one of the suspects leaving from a house in the 100 block of McGregor Street on Wednesday afternoon.

A neighbor told police she saw Hunter and two other men go into the house, but everyone fled when police arrived. One of the suspected burglars was carrying what looked like a cigar box. A K-9 officer recovered some clothing believed to belong to the suspects near the scene, along with some cigars and cigarettes. The homeowner later told police that the cigars and cigarettes were the only items taken from the house.

Animal cruelty

A man was cited for animal cruelty after he came to the LaGrange Animal Shelter looking for his dog, police said. The dog had been recovered by animal control, examined by a vet and taken to the shelter after it was found to be emaciated. The dog owner told officers the dog ate “people food” and they hadn’t fed the dog dog food since Oct. 14 because they could not afford to buy it.

Animal control officers said the dog was eating dog food at the shelter and appeared to have put on weight.

Drug arrest

Troup deputies charged William Chad Stroud, 25, of Montgomery, Ala., and Keyion Lowery, whose age and address were unavailable, with trafficking methamphetamine after stopping their vehicle on Interstate 85. Officers recovered 7.5 ounces of the drug when they searched the vehicle.

Thefts

• An employee of Simply Self Storage at 2170 West Point Road said she believes someone who was renting one of the units and had fallen behind on payments cut the lock of the unit and cleaned it out. The business has a policy of changing the locks when someone fails to pay their monthly rent.

• A resident of the 900 block of Hill Street said someone he knows took his tattoo kit, including guns, needles, ink and foot pedal, from his house. The tattoo kit is worth $400.

• A woman said someone took the wheel covers off her 1998 Ford Crown Victoria while she was in the area of LaGrange Mall and Home Depot. A value of the wheel covers was unavailable.

• A man said someone did $85 in damage to a gate and took $350 in items from a hunting property in the 3000 block of Roanoke Road.

• A woman in the 100 block of Shannon Drive said someone took a 40-inch flat screen television worth $700 from her house.

Suspected scam

A woman in the 400 block of Hampton Green Drive said she “without thinking” gave a telemarketer her credit card information after the caller said she’d won $100. The woman canceled her credit card after she hung up.

Fake check

A man in the first block of South Oak Drive told Troup deputies he’d received a fake check in the mail for his truck after attempting to sell the vehicle on Craigslist. The check was printed on regular copy paper with a fuzzy signature and was made out for $1,500 more than the man was asking for the truck. No one had come to pick up the vehicle yet and the man wanted to report the check for documentation.

Damage

• Someone hit a concrete sign at Shuford Fields at 950 Calumet center Drive, causing the wall around the sign to shift. A damage estimate was not available.

• A woman in the 100 block of Watson Street said she believes someone she knows broke out the back window of her 1995 Eagle Vision, causing $400 in damage.

• A woman in the 800 block of Juniper Street said someone broke out a window of her house, causing an unknown amount of damage.
