Ongoing

“Folk Crafts of West Georgia” at Legacy Museum on Main, in conjunction with the opening of “American Folk Hero: Outsider Art of Georgia and Alabama” at LaGrange Art Museum. The exhibit will feature the more ornamental variety of crafts such as quilts, baskets, wood carvings and bowls, and totem poles from Troup and surrounding counties. Items on display date from the early 1900s to recent days. Legacy Museum on Main is located at 136 Main St. in LaGrange. The museum is open Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free of charge. For more information, call 706-884-1828.

“Metamorphoses,” a play based on Greek and Roman myths, is 7:30 p.m. Saturday and 2:30 p.m. Sunday in Price Theater. Tickets at $10 for adults and $8 for non-LaGrange College students and senior citizens are available at the Price Theater box office. The Patchwork Players presents “By the Pound,” an original stage play written and directed by Rachel Einglett Elliott and Jack Bagley to benefit the Humane Society of Harris County. The performances will be in the Briton Little Theatre at the DHA Community Life Center in Pine Mountain. The LaGrange Elks Lodge hosts its annual Veterans Day Luncheon from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the lodge on Davis Road. The event is free to all veterans and active-duty personnel and their families. A one-day workshop designed to assist family caregivers in improving their knowledge and skills in caring for family members with Alzheimer’s will be held 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the DHA Community Life Center in Pine Mountain. There will be a defensive driving class taught at the Active Life Center 1 to 4 p.m. Both days’ attendance are required to get a certificate, which may get drivers a discount on their insurance policy. Nov. 17

A toy run for veterans’ children starts at Elks Club, 905 S. Davis Road, with registration at 9 a.m. and kick-stands up at 11:30 a.m. The ride stops at Chatters and White Tail Pub and ends at Pyne Road Park. Participants should bring a new toy or donation. The ride is sponsored by the Iron Cross motorcycle group, Crossmen Support Club, VFW Post 4629, VFW 4629 motorcycle group, Disabled American Veterans and D.A.D.

The city of West Point hosts a winter carnival at West Point Depot, which includes a Christmas tree decorating contest, and vendors selling goods at The Holiday Market.

West Georgia Home School Association presents its fourth Annual Christmas Craft Bazaar at LaGrange Mall from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Students will havehome-baked goods and hand-made crafts for sale, including jewelry, crochet, wool crafts, cakes, pies and more.
