In banking and business, in civic and community life, at home and in church, William F. Holle Jr. was a doer, a giver, a leader.

The LaGrange native, who died Sunday at age 94, had a hand in countless important and worthy undertakings in the hometown he loved. From the time he began his banking career - after serving his country in World War II - until his retirement in 1985, he worked tirelessly to help LaGrange grow and prosper. He gave his time and considerable talents to LaGrange Board of Education, City-County hospital board, Camp Viola, Lions Club, United Way, Chamber of Commerce, LaGrange College and many more.

His commitment to First Presbyterian Church included service as teacher, deacon and Elder and leadership in fund-raising for building projects and expanded ministry.

With his cherished wife, Page Sargent Holle,, he raised a fine family and was privileged to see his children and grandchidren grow up in LaGrange and follow his path of service to church, family and community.

LaGrange has lost another stalwart member of its “Greatest Generation.”

We salute the long life and distinguished service of William F. Holle Jr.
