After two false starts, the closing of Vernon Street near LaGrange College is scheduled for this weekend.

The work on erecting a pedestrian bridge was postponed two weeks ago due to a construction problem, then was called off last weekend due to weather.

The schedule calls for closings from sunrise Saturday to sunset Sunday, and from sunrise to sunset March 29, April 4, April 5, April 12 and, if needed, April 11.

Traffic will be rerouted onto Broad Street during the construction of the bridge, which will link the college’s main campus with parking across Vernon Street.

Yea I agree. But Im sure they thought about clearances before starting construction.

I think the bridge is totally necessary now with the way the parking lots are set up. What I hope doesn't happen is that they have it arched high enough so that a big truck won't knock a chunk out of it. Now that would be bad.
