Just in time for Christmas, the LaGrange College annual “Howliday Haul” netted pounds and pounds of dog food, cat food and other goodies for the animals.

The items were dropped off Friday at LaGrange-Troup County Humane Society and LaGrange Animal Shelter.

“We are thrilled,” said Marsha Schubert, humane society administrative assistant. “We were almost completely out of cat food.”

The annual donation drive, sponsored by the provost’s office, brought in 122 pounds of cat food, 166 pounds of cat litter and 405 pounds of cat food.

Donations also included treats, toys, collars, leashes, towels and blankets, along with $100 in cash.

It’s the third year for the college to donate items to the shelter.
