Mrs. Eva Jane Smith Brown Cardwell, age 77, of Cedartown, GA, and formerly of LaGrange, GA, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, January 1, 2013. She was born on May 18, 1935 in Troup County, GA a daughter of the late Grady Henry Smith and Martha Ella Butler Smith. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husbands; Charley Brown and James Walter Cardwell, brothers; Jack, Frank, Gerald and Paul Smith, a sister; Sybil Nauss, a son; Babe Herman Bowen, and her granddaughter; Charity Hester. Mrs. Cardwell retired from West Point Stevens Dunson Mills following 45 years of dedicated service. Mrs. Cardwell was a long time member of the Baptist Tabernacle in LaGrange, GA.
Eva Jane Brown Cardwell is survived by her daughter; Stephania Hester, a son; William M. (Bill) Campbell, a step daughter; Janet Ann Brown, her sister; Charlotte Tucker and Billy, her grandsons; David Hester & Kayla and Ernie Bagley, great grandchildren; Logan and Mason Jennings, a special friend; Gail Stitcher, her caregiver; Lindsey Stephens and children, Arthur Stephens and Sertha Hayes. A number of nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services for Eva Jane Brown Cardwell will be conducted on Friday, January 4, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. from the Baptist Tabernacle in LaGrange, GA with Rev. Jimmy McMillian officiating. Interment will follow in the Shadowlawn Cemetery, LaGrange, GA. The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 3, 2013 from 6 until 8:00 p.m. at the Lester C. Litesey Funeral Home in Cedartown and on Friday, January 4, 2013 from 12 noon until 2:00 p.m. at the Baptist Tabernacle.
