Warmer weather coming this weekend

Unseasonably warm temperatures are in the forecast for Troup County, but they may not be enough to break any records.

The outlook for Friday through Tuesday is for highs in the lower 70s and lows in the mid-50s. There’s a chance of rain Friday and Saturday, with a greater chance Monday.

Even if Friday’s forecast high of 72 is reached, it will fall well short of the record of 78 for the date posted at LaGrange-Callaway Airport in 1949. And the record for Saturday’s date is 80, also set in 1949.

Sunday is the best bet for breaking the record high of 69, posted in 1959. The record for Monday’s date is 71, set in 1982.

The all-time high in LaGrange for the month was 80, set Jan. 12, 1949, and tied on Jan. 25, 1950.

Normal extremes for this time of year are 51 and 37.
