A young male allegedly snatched a purse from a car, while a man was seated in the vehicle.

Reports say that officers were dispatched to the LaGrange Memorial Library on Alford Street Monday afternoon in reference to an entering an auto complaint.

After speaking with the victims, the officer later learned that the incident was a robbery by sudden snatch. The female victim told the officer that she and her husband parked on the side of the building , and she left her husband in the car while she went into the library.

After she had gone inside, her 85 year old husband, who was left sitting in the passenger seat, said a light skinned black male about 16 to 17 years old, wearing a camouflage jacket and riding a bike, came up to him and asked if he would give a donation to the school. The victim told the young male no, before closing the door back. Minutes later the victim said that he saw the driver’s door open and thought it was his wife coming back out, but then allegedly saw the young male reach inside the door and take his wife’s purse which was lying on the driver’s side floorboard. The suspect left towards Alford Street on his bike.

The purse was black leather with two long straps, and contained a license, credit cards, a Medicare card, $300 in cash and her Capital City Bank checkbook.
