It’s unfair to place the responsibility of funding the school system only on the backs of property owners, and always expecting more from them in the times of a shortfall.
To answer this growing problem and make up the budget deficit is to spread the responsibility around to everyone. Do away with the school property tax and implement a sales tax that way everyone shares the responsibility and more money could be raised. This would also end the dispute between appraisers and property owners, of home values being artificially inflated just to increase local tax revenue.
