Mr. Omari Saleem of Union City passed away Monday.

Mr. Saleem (Otis Shepherd), was a native of LaGrange and was the son of the late Charlie Will Shepherd and Ella Mae Delaney Shepherd. He attended college in New York and was a self-employed construction worker and truck driver.

Survivors include his wife, Ruthie Meggs Saleem, Union City; daughters: Candace (Alton) Ellis, Americus, GA; Khrystyle Shepherd, US Navy, Yokosuka, Japan; Shannon Meggs and Michelle Sims, Atlanta; sons: Michael (Consela) Meggs, David (Alicia) Meggs, Yusef (Cekenia) Saleem; three brothers: Clark (Dovie) Foster, Atlanta; Arthur (Cathleen) Shepherd, Camilla, GA; Henry Lee (Candace) Delaney, St. Louis, MO; sister, Charlie Mae (John Henry) Moton, LaGrange; 18 grandchildren, special devoted cousins: Gloria Towns Strozier, LaGrange; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The Celebration of Life Service will be Saturday, February 2, 2013, at 3:00PM at the Smyrna Baptist Church. Rev. Lonnie Walls will officiate. Burial will be in the Shadowlawn Cemetery.

The family will be at the home of his sister, Charlie Mae Moton at 219 Peachtree Street.
