Emory Clark-Holder Clinic will host the Healthy Heart Health Fair on Feb. 16 from 8 a.m. to noon. The event will be held at the Richter Building, 310 N. Lewis St., the building directly behind the clinic, and will feature a number of free clinical tests and educational materials.
Under the direction of the clinic’s cardiologists, Dr. James Brennan and Dr. Marcus Williams, the event is designed to create awareness and promote a healthy heart.
“A big part of what we do is prevention. Most cardiologists work on the back end of things, that is they treat disease that is already present,” Williams said. “Here at Emory we want to emphasize prevention, a healthy heart can be the result of healthy living.”
The following are the free screenings and information that the clinic will be offering at the Healthy Heart Health Fair:
• Lab testing, which includes glucose and cholesterol screening.
• ABI testing, which tests for blockage in the legs.
• Blood pressure checks.
• Oxygen saturation levels.
• Weight and body-mass index, BMI.
• EKGs.
• Carotid screening, a stroke screening using ultrasound.
• Healthy heart educational materials.
• Providers, clinicians and dietitian will be on site.
“Emory Clark-Holder Clinic has been privileged to serve this community for over 75 years in cardiac care and looks forward to continuing this effort through events like this,” said Sharon Williams, Emory Clark-Holder manager and business/patient relations representative. “All of the tests that we are offering at this fair are valuable tools that can be used to promote healthy life styles and to prevent heart disease.”
All of the information and screenings are free to the public but registration is required for all labs, ABI test and carotid screenings. To register, call the clinic at 706-812-4051.
