LaGrange beat Carrollton 45-39 in a game that began at Columbus High, and ended at Jordan High.
Because of a leaky roof in the Columbus gym, the decision was made to play the second half in the Jordan gym.
The change didn’t bother the Lady Grangers, who outscored the Lady Trojans 22-16 in the second half to advance to the semifinals on Thursday.
LaGrange, the fourth seed, will play top-seeded Sandy Creek at 7:30 p.m., and the game will be at Sandy Creek.
The win also guaranteed LaGrange a spot in the Class AAAA state tournament.
At the half of Tuesday’s game, LaGrange head coach Jan Jones said she was informed that the leak couldn’t be stopped, and she was given two options.
“It was either (change gyms) or come back (today), and we definitely didn’t want to go home and sleep on it,” Jones said. “Fortunately, Columbus was able to find a gym. Jordan opened their doors up, and everybody got in their cars and relocated.
“With that adversity, to come back in the second half and outscore them, that was a big deal for us.”
The game was tied 23-23 at the half, and LaGrange took a 35-29 lead through three periods.
Carrollton got as close as one in the fourth period, but LaGrange held on thanks to a strong effort from the free-throw line.
The Lady Grangers made 8-of-11 attempts from the line in the fourth period, and they were 17-of-23 for the game.
“It seems like each time we have a good free-throw shooting night, we can come out on top,” Jones said. “That’s the key.
Steara Mitchell led LaGrange with 16 points, and Brittany Tam added 11 points.
Breanna Grant and Cheteya Tucker each added six points, with all six of Tucker’s points coming in the first quarter.
“She really stepped up big for us tonight defensively, and she got us going in the first quarter,” Jones said of Tucker.
Jones also said Andrea Heflin “hit some big shots coming off the bench for us.”
It was a game, Jones said, where “everybody contributed.”
