The Grangers fell to 2-5, and three of those losses have been by two or fewer runs, including a pair of one-run losses to open the season.
“We’re right there,” LaGrange head coach Todd Herrington said. “We have to figure out those little things we need to do to finish a game.”
When the Grangers arrived in Newnan, it appeared doubtful that the game would be played because of weather concerns, but after a brief rain storm, the teams were able to play.
“We weren’t sure if we were going to play or not,” Herrington said. “(The rain) came and left, and their field dried up real quick. We jumped out there and played. We were fortunate to get it in.”
The Grangers scored first with a run in the top of the first inning.
Bradford came through with a base hit, and Bryce Todd scored on an error on the play.
Newnan, taking advantage of two LaGrange errors to start the inning, came back with four runs in its half of the first.
After falling behind 5-1, LaGrange rallied for four runs in the fifth inning to tie it.
After one run scored on a balk, Jake Norton came through with a clutch two-out hit to tie it.
Newnan scored the game’s final two runs, though.
Mitchell Donahue got the start for LaGrange, and Herrington said Cord Carson and Tristain Daugherty both pitched well in relief.
LaGrange will host Central-Carroll on Friday.
