A LaGrange woman told police that her daughter has been using her name and Social Security number to get prescriptions filled for herself at Corley Drugs at 820 N. Greenwood St. The woman said her daughter told her that if police were called, her daughter would lie and say her mother was selling her the prescriptions.
A New Franklin Road resident said he had received a letter from the IRS saying he owes more than $3,000 in back taxes. The man said his Social Security card had been stolen and someone used it to get a job with a company in Johnson City, Tenn. The victim said he’s never been to Tennessee.
A New Hutchinson Mill Road resident told police she’d lost her state ID and Social Security card while moving, and someone used it to take out a loan in her name.
Theft, burglary
— A Dallas man told Troup County deputies that he was fishing on West Point Lake while a thief broke into his Toyota Tacoma and took $1,620 in undisclosed items. The man said the vehicle was parked at Yellow Jacket Access off Cameron Mill Road when the theft occurred.
— A McGregor Street resident said someone kicked in the back door of her house between 1 and 2 a.m. Saturday and stole two cell phones, worth a combined value of $239, LaGrange police said.
