Weather permitting.
That’s the caveat that has come along with just about every sporting event in Troup County in recent weeks.
So weather permitting, the Troup Tigers will try to play the Columbus Blue Devils again today in a key Region 2-AAA baseball game, although head coach Craig Garner didn’t sound hopeful Wednesday morning.
“Our field usually drains real well, but there was standing water (Wednesday afternoon),” Garner said.
Another heavy storm early this morning didn’t help.
The game was supposed to be played Wednesday, but Garner said the field wasn’t ready for competition.
Garner said he would visit the field around 11 a.m.
LaGrange’s game with Pacelli scheduled for today has already been postponed.
LaGrange head coach Donnie Branch said the teams may try to play Saturday at 4 p.m.
LaGrange is also scheduled to play Brookwood on Saturday at 7 p.m.
Also today, LaGrange Academy was scheduled to host Oak Mountain Academy.
Also today, Callaway, La-Grange, Troup and Greenville were set to get together for a track meet at the Whitesville Road stadium, but that event has been pushed back as well.
It has been re-scheduled for April 13.
Today’s soccer doubleheader between Callaway and Brookstone has been postponed.
The teams will instead play on April 14.
