A female employee of a LaGrange convenience store scared an armed man away Thursday morning by pushing a silent alarm and telling him the police were coming.

The would-be robber, dressed in a black, pulled-down hooded jacket and armed with a handgun, stormed into PCA Food Store at 1200 Hogansville Road about 9:40 a.m. and demanded money from the cashier. The clerk refused and prevented him from walking behind the front counter by standing in his way, police said. The clerk then pushed a silent alarm and told the man that police were about to arrive.

He fled in a silver-colored car, failing to steal anything. Police have no suspects.
