Mrs. Hester was born February 22, 1918 in LaGrange, daughter of the late Joseph Carl Geter and Truitt Phillips Geter. She had lived in LaGrange all her life and was a member of Dixie United Methodist Church and the Eastern Star. Mrs. Hester was employed with the LaGrange City-County Hospital (West Georgia Medical Center) as an L.P.N. before retiring. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jim A. Hester.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Gene Jones; son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Terrie Hester; three grandchildren and their spouses, Jimmy E. and Amy Jones, Scott A. and Merri Jones, and Carl Hester; and three great-grandchildren, Steven Jones, Carson Jones, and Halie Hogan.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. today, April 4, 2009 at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Jay Knight officiating. Burial will be in Shadowlawn Cemetery.
The family will be at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Gene Jones and will receive friends at the funeral home immediately following the funeral service.
