LaGrange police arrested a man who allegedly stabbed his brother Sunday night in the 600 block of Borton Street.

Ellis Harris, 36, of Glenn Robertson Street was charged with simple assault, simple battery, aggravated battery with a weapon, obstructing law enforcement and terroristic threats.

Police said Harris went to his father’s home on Borton Street about 7:20 p.m. to confront him about a previous argument. Harris allegedly threatened him in the living room and tried to grab him before his 20-year-old brother, who lives at the residence, stepped in front of him to block his path.

Harris allegedly pulled a knife and chased his brother into the front yard, and cut him several times. The brother reached for a nearby baseball bat, scaring Harris away.

A short time later, police found Harris walking in the 700 block of Glenn Robertson Street. Police said Harris screamed obscenities at officers and walked to the front porch of his residence, ignoring commands to stop. A police dog was then released because Harris has a history of violence with police.

Harris’ brother refused medical treatment for minor cuts.
