Now is the time for everyone to get involved. This coming Saturday, April 18, is “The Great American Cleanup. Locally LaGrange, West Point and Hogansville will unite to clean up Troup County. Every year at this time we join the nation in cleaning up our country.
We members of “Keep Troup Beautiful” encourage behavioral changes and individual responsibility through educational activities which result in a cleaner Troup County. We ask individuals and groups to clean up any area they see fit. It is not too late to register so that your cleaning efforts can be counted. Our county has received national recognition in the past for our efforts and would like to be recognized again.
Registration will begin at 9 a.m. on the plaza in front of the Chamber of Commerce in LaGrange, at the Givorn’s parking lot in West Point, and at City Park in Hogansville. Anyone who has pre-registered may just go directly to their clean-up or other work site.
The closing celebrations will be held at the registration sites beginning at 11:30 a.m. There will be snacks and drinks and door prizes and some special prizes for the most unusual item found and most trash collected by groups The first 150 to register will be guaranteed a KTB t-shirt and a meal coupon from Burger King.
The City of LaGrange is providing bins at the old Main Street fire station for tire collections. We will also have a trailer for electronic wastes, (no televisions) and Hollis Hand Elementary School will have their “Reuse A Shoe bin” for old sports shoes. We will accept any kind of sport shoe but no cleats, flip flops or dress shoes.
It is not too late to get involved. Call Keep Troup Beautiful office at (706) 884 9922 to pre-register. Your cleanup activity does not have to be on the morning of the 18. Call us and let us know what you have done. We want to hear from you.
