Police recover stolen phones

A woman in the 300 block of Dixie Street said her boyfriend took her two juvenile sons to Wal-Mart on New Franklin Road and stole two Samsung cell phones Sunday morning.

Police found Eric Bailey, 25, of Dixie Street walking with one of the boys in the 600 block of Greenville Street. After the boy admitted to stealing the phones, Bailey also confessed and said they threw one of the phones in a field behind Greenhouse Nursery at 601 Greenville St. Police found it and also located the other phone in the 100 block of Bacon Street. Bailey was charged with theft by shoplifting.

Man wanted for burglary flees police

A man in the 500 block of South Greenwood Street fled on foot Sunday afternoon when police attempted to serve an outstanding warrant for burglary. Police later found Brian Hardy, 33, hiding in the shower of a vacant residence on Cherry Street. He was hit with an additional charge of resisting arrest.

Burglaries, thefts

A woman returned from Sunday school to her residence in the 900 block of Utah Street and noticed the screens covering her two bedroom windows were ripped off. Some silver coins valued at $500 and a black pistol valued at $250 were stolen.

Arrests

Sterling Culpepper, 20, of Lithonia was charged with sale of and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute. Police stopped Culpepper’s vehicle Sunday night at Lafayette Parkway and Horace King Street for failure to turn his head lights on and found nearly three ounces of pot in the back seat.
