LaGrange police accused a man of smashing his wife’s car with a metal pole after chasing her vehicle Monday afternoon.
Police said the couple had a heated argument in the 100 block of Clearview Drive, and the man chased his wife and a friend in his pickup truck about 12:50 p.m. She sped along South Davis Road and turned onto Lafayette Parkway where she drove into the parking lot of LaGrange Mall to avoid a traffic light.
The woman said she knew he would strike her vehicle if she stopped. She called 911 and turned onto Davis Road, then had no choice but to stop at its intersection with Hogansville Road because of a red light and heavy traffic.
Police said the husband’s pickup, following close behind, struck the rear of her vehicle and he jumped out with the metal pole. He allegedly climbed onto the hood of his wife’s car and repeatedly struck the front windshield with the pole, grazing the side of his wife’s head one time. Police charged him with two counts of family violence battery.
Stolen vehicle
A man in the 1700 block of Mountville-Big Springs Road reported the theft of his black 1997 Ford Expedition.
