Man flees police, faces drug charge
Henry Trammell, 39, of Ware Street was charged with possession of cocaine and obstruction of a police officer.
Police confronted Trammell on East Crovat Street on Tuesday afternoon about an unrelated incident and gave this account:
Trammel was sitting on a front porch of a residence and fled on foot toward Wright Street. An officer told Trammel he would release a dog if he didn’t stop running. Trammel stopped and kneeled as if to surrender. He jumped to this feet, though, and fled again as the officer tried to handcuff him. Trammell headed back toward East Crovat Street and eventually tripped over some brush near the wood line and fell, striking his head on the asphalt. At that time, a small plastic bag containing cocaine fell out of Trammell’s pockets.
Trammell was treated at West Georgia Medical Center for injuries suffered during the chase.
Arrests
— Antonio Scott, 26, of Mitchell Avenue was charged with computer theft and theft by taking more than $500.
— Kermit Curry, 34, of Pine Mountain was charged with selling cocaine.
— April Ellis, 27, of Hogansville was charged with forced entry burglary of a residence.
— Troup County sheriff’s deputies charged Howard Porter, 36, of Decatur with possession of drugs and weapons by an inmate.
Theft
A West Georgia Technical College student said a thief stole a welding helmet and a welding jacket from his locker at 303 Fort Drive on Tuesday afternoon.
