Police gave this account: The man returned from work in a cab around 11:53 a.m. when the men approached him from behind the corner of his house as he reached his front porch. One of the robbers said, “Hello amigo,” and pulled out a knife while his partner produced a pistol. The men chased him into his house where he screamed for help to his roommates. He ran into his friend’s bedroom and locked the door. The robbers began kicking the door down while the man and his friend yelled for their roommates to call police. At that time, the robbers fled.
Police have no suspects.
Van stolen

Police accused a man of trying to sell stolen items to a LaGrange pawn shop Saturday afternoon.
James Holmes, 25, of South Lewis Street was charged with stolen property theft by receiving. An employee of Pawn Express at 400 Hines St. notified police of two men trying to pawn landscaping equipment valued at $1,640. The items matched the description of ones in a Chevrolet Astro Van that was stolen Saturday morning in the 200 block of Cosby Drive. Police found the men at the pawn shop and took them into custody. After an investigation, the second man was released.
The van wasn’t recovered, and Holmes said he doesn’t know anything about it.
The van valued at $2,500 also contained a weed trimmer valued at $400, a lawnmower valued at $1,000, a blower valued at $450 and tools valued at $300.
Burglaries, thefts
— A resident of the 200 block of Upper Glass Bridge Road said a thief stole two motorcycles valued at $1,600 Friday night.
— A resident of the first block of Colonial Court said a thief stole $1,780 of electronic items from his residence.
Police: Man
threatened woman
Police accused a La-Grange man of carrying a pistol to a residence in the 300 block of Valley Court and using it to threaten a woman Saturday night.
Police gave this account: The Valley Court resident said she saw the man beat her friend, who is his girlfriend, in another incident and argued with him about it during a phone call Saturday. During the argument, the man hung up the phone and drove to her house with a gun. When the woman came outside, he stepped out of the vehicle and pointed the gun in her face while proclaiming he would “blow your face off.” The woman grabbed a fireplace poker, which was on the side of the street, to defend herself. The man then drove away.
Police later found the man at Tall Pines Apartments at 150 Turner St. and found the pistol on him. He was charged with simple assault and terroristic threats.
Street racing
Police accused a man and woman of racing each other in front of Wal-Mart at 803 New Franklin Road on Friday night.
The vehicles, a Dodge Intrepid and a Chevrolet Camaro, were traveling beside each other in separate lanes at about 100 mph on New Franklin Road, police said. One of the drivers admitted to racing and said they were “only goofing off” and didn’t intend on harming anyone. Both were cited for speeding and reckless driving.
Vandalism
A resident of the 500 block of Whitesville Road said a vandal shot a hole in her car in the 200 block of Butler Street on Saturday morning causing about $500 damage. The woman was at a party when she heard the gunshot, police said.
