Man chases intruder

A resident of the 100 block of Wesley Way said he chased a suspected burglar from his house after a banging sound woke him Tuesday morning.

Police gave this account: The resident was sleeping about 5 a.m. when a loud noise coming from the rear door awoke him. He called police and walked to his kitchen, where he found two windows damaged and an unidentified man.

He briefly chased the intruder toward Hines and Ware streets before losing sight of him.

Thefts

A thief stole a trailer valued at $2,800 Tuesday afternoon from the 100 block of North Davis Road. The trailer belonged to Taylor and Sons Construction Co. Stolen items in it included a water pump valued at $3,500, a power saw valued at $1,100 and a power tamper valued at $3,500.

Arrest

Jonathan Pruitt, 19, of Greenville Street was charged with burglary forced entry of a residence.

Guilty plea

Jason Robert Rippy, 31, of LaGrange was sentenced to five years in prison and five years’ probation Tuesday after he pleaded guilty to child molestation charges.
