Rev. Heard, a native of LaGrange, was born September 3, 1925 and was the son of the late Alexander A. Heard Sr. and Jenny Heard.He was a 1945 graduate of East Depot High School and served as pastor of Canaan Baptist Church, LaGrange from 1963 until retirement in 2004 and Maple Springs Baptist Church, Hartwell, Ga. from 1971-1987.
His memory will be cherished by his devoted wife, Alnetha M. Heard; son, Alexander Heard III; grandchildren, TriaLica Heard, Cedric Heard, Demond Heard (Houston, TX); son, Samuel Marcus (Sandra) Heard; grandchildren, Marcus Ajami Heard and Samantha Heard (Atlanta, GA); daughter, Edith (Maurice) Dean; grandchildren, Isaiah Dean, Jordan Dean, Atlanta; daughter, Judy Crooks; grandchildren, Horace Edward Crooks, LaMetria Crooks (deceased), Houston, TX; nine great-grandchildren, many loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The celebration of life service will be on Saturday, May 30, 2009 at 11:00 AM at the Canaan Baptist Church, Highway 219 North, LaGrange.Rev. Michael Stevenson, Rev. W. T. Edmondson, and Rev. Melvin Cameron will officiate.
The family will receive friends at the Walker Tabernacle Baptist Church at 3548 Boulder Park Drive SW, Atlanta on this evening from 6:30 until 8.
In lieu of flowers, it is respectfully requested that contributions be made to your favorite charity in memory of Rev. Heard.
Lakes-Dunson-Robertson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
