While most volunteer teams chose to wait out the rain one more day, a few got started on their “Paint the Town” houses Wednesday morning.

First Baptist Church on the Square members tackled their house at 1000 Park Ave. with scrapers and pressure washers, an activity that can be done despite the rain and humid conditions.

Paint the Town, sponsored by DASH for LaGrange Inc. and in its fifth year, runs through Saturday. Volunteer teams will paint 15 houses in LaGrange.

Volunteer groups this year include churches and other organizations, as well as a family who came together volunteering to paint their family member’s house and a group under the flag of “Organize for America,” campaign volunteers who wanted to keep serving after the November election of President Barack Obama.
