Derrick Moss, 22, was treated at West Georgia Medical Center, where he was listed in stable condition for a wound to his right leg.
Police gave this account: Moss had visited Tall Pine Apartments at 150 Turner St. and walked to his car when three men approached him about 1:38 a.m. When he saw one of the men produce a handgun after a brief verbal altercation, Moss dived into the passenger seat of his vehicle and was shot once in his lower right leg.
Police said Moss was taken to the hospital for surgery to repair a broken bone in the lower part of his leg.
Two injured
in collision
A two-vehicle accident in the 200 block of Lukken Industrial Drive on Tuesday morning left two women injured.
Sherry Sutton, 41, of Bridgewood Drive stopped to turn into ITW-Donovan Insulated Products at 200 Lukken Industrial Drive when another vehicle slammed into the rear of her car about 5:45 a.m. The driver of the other vehicle, Shonna Bell, 31, of Johnson Street, said she briefly looked away from the road and didn’t see Sutton’s vehicle stop. She was cited for following too closely.
Both drivers were treated at West Georgia Medical Center and released.
Thefts
A lawn mower was stolen from the first block of Barry Avenue.
Arrests
Amanda Benefield, 29, of Priscilla Drive was charged with possession of metha-done.
