Larry Cotton Jr., 24, of 115 Ware St. was charged with aggravated assault.
Hogansville police Sgt. Raymond Gates said the fight started about midnight May 30 on West Boyd Road. Witnesses gave conflicting accounts on whether Gates fired once or three times into the air.
The fight continued a couple of blocks away on Ware Street when Gates allegedly fired more shots. He said it hadn’t been confirmed whether the other man also fired a weapon.
No one was injured during the incident.
Man hurt in motorcycle wreck
A LaGrange man was reported in critical but stable condition Friday night at Atlanta Medical Center after a motorcycle accident on New Franklin Road.
Bryan Edmondson, 33, of 294 Fling Road was traveling north about 8:20 p.m. Thursday on New Franklin Road at Ware’s Cross Road when his Kawasaki 1500 ran off the highway and ejected him into a ditch. He was unresponsive at the scene.
Weather conditions prevented a medical helicopter from responding to the scene. Edmondson was taken to West Georgia Medical Center, then transferred to the Atlanta hospital.
State troopers said it hadn’t been determined what caused the accident.
Guilty pleas
Sentenced after pleading guilty Friday in Troup Superior Court were:
— Jermaine Lareese Griffin, 26, of Cantonment, Fla.; 12 years in prison for possession with intent to distribute ecstasy and cocaine, and possession of marijuana.
— Deandra D. Brown, 22, of Mobile, Ala.; eight years in prison for possession with intent to distribute cocaine, driving with a revoked license, fleeing or attempting to elude officers and tampering with evidence.
— Tynell Gibson, 33, of West Point; two years in prison for possession of a counterfeit substance, disorderly conduct and obstruction of an officer.
— Jeffery Jerome Hardnett, 41, of LaGrange; two years in prison for forgery in the first degree.
