Police said they found a 24-year-old man who was intoxicated and told officers he had argued with another man at Pat’s Roadhouse at 425 New Franklin Road a few hours earlier and decided to damage the mailboxes because of his anger. He was charged with public drunkenness and 17 counts of criminal damage to property. The second man had fled on foot when officers arrived and wasn’t found.
Police: Officer stops drug deal
A LaGrange police officer said he saw a man selling cocaine to a woman in her car in the 600 block of Bell Street on Saturday afternoon.
The officer told Willie Patillo, 45, and Sandra Sims, 43, both of Whitesville Street, to stop what they were doing. He found two pieces of crack cocaine and two crack pipes in the passenger seat of Sims’ vehicle, police said. Patillo was charged with sale of cocaine, and Sims was charged with possession of cocaine.
Burglaries, thefts
— A thief stole a 2006 Kawasaki ATV from the first block of Lovelace Road.
— A resident of the 6000 block of West Point Road said a thief damaged a side window of her residence and stole $220.
— A thief stole a small boat valued at $700 from the 600 block of Waterview Drive. The owner said a chain securing it to a dock was cut.
— A thief ripped the screen of a bedroom window of a residence in the 1000 block of North Greenwood Street on Friday night and stole a $1,500 42-inch TV, a $300 money order and $300 of video games.
Accident
Bobby Banks, 62, of Guinn Street was hospitalized for chest and neck injuries suffered in an accident at the intersection of Whitesville Street and Lukken Industrial Drive. Banks was traveling through the intersection when another vehicle struck the front of his vehicle Saturday afternoon. Both drivers denied being at fault, and neither was cited. Banks was treated at West Georgia Medical Center and re-leased.
Vandalism
— A vandal damaged the front window of a vacant building at 299 Commerce Ave. on Friday night.
— A vandal struck a car in the 200 block of Boulevard, causing $1,500 damage.
Arrests
— Joshua Carothers, 17, of Wynngate Drive was charged with nonforced entry burglary of a residence.
— West Point police charged Patrick Coyle, 58, and Wayne Glenna, 41, both of Phenix City, Ala., with theft by taking more than $500.
— Carolyn Olinger, 36, of Franklin was charged with theft by taking more than $500.
