Elementary school burglarized

Two thieves broke into Berta Weathersbee Elementary School at 1200 Forrest Ave. on Monday night and stole two computers valued at $3,000 and a $300 TV. Entry was gained through a window of a portable building damaged by the thieves, police said. Security camera footage showed two men wearing tan-colored clothing break into the building and spray the security camera with a fire extinguisher, failing to completely cover its screen.

Theft

A TV and camcorder were stolen from a residence in the 100 block of North Page Street.

Church property vandalized

A vandal caused $600 damage to a fence and two security lights outside Second Baptist Church at 304 Fair St. on Monday night. Part of the fence, including a metal pole, was pulled to the ground.

Accident

A LaGrange woman was treated at West Georgia Medical Center for a panic attack suffered during a two-vehicle at the intersection of Barnard Avenue and Railroad Street Monday afternoon. Samyoka Mosley, 25, of Jarboe Street was southbound on Barnard Avenue when a car leaving Railroad Street struck the front driver’s side of her vehicle. The other driver, Heather Thompson, 33, of Deer Pointe Court, was cited for failure to yield.

Arrests

— Bonnie Smith, 20, of Waugh Road and Cindy Smith, 47, of Young’s Mill Road were charged with fraudulently obtaining regulated drugs and possession of a narcotic.

Sentenced after pleading guilty Monday in Troup Superior Court were:

— Brandon Demontay Green, 20, of LaGrange; six years in prison and four years’ probation for possession with intent to distribute cocaine.

— Leamon Patrick Hughes, 40, of LaGrange; four years in prison and 11 years’ probation for aggravated battery and simple battery. He choked a woman and caused her a bruised and swollen eye by flipping a chair over while she was sitting in it.

— Fredrick Voinda Ransom, 28, of LaGrange; two years in prison and six years’ probation for possession of cocaine.

— Paul Edward Williams, 24, of Mobile, Ala.; three years in prison and two years’ probation for tampering with evidence and possession of cocaine.
