Troup County students in kindergarten through fifth grade are being introduced to golf as part of the First Tee National School Program.

More than 5,000 Troup County students learn to play golf in physical education classes while being taught the First Tee’s nine core values - honesty, integrity, sportsmanship, respect, confidence, responsibility, perseverance, courtesy and judgment.

‘It’s an unbelievable opportunity to teach character and at the same time the kids can learn a game they can play their whole life,’ said Allen Doyle, chairman of the local First Tee chapter and a two-time U. S. Senior Open champion.
