She hurried toward a damaged front window and saw a dark-colored truck drive through her front yard onto Broad Street. Extensive damage was done to the brick exterior of the house and window. No arrest was made.
Armed robbery
A resident of the 100 block of Mitchell Avenue said two men with knives robbed him of his wallet and cell phone at a lake access off Roanoke Road on Wednesday morning.
Burglaries, thefts
— A resident of the 900 block of Borton Street said a thief damaged a rear window and stole three space heaters valued at $300 each.
— A thief damaged the passenger-side window of a truck in the 500 block of Jenkins Street and stole a stereo system, speakers and amplifiers for a total value of $3,500.
Loose dog
A woman walking her dog in the first block of Tyler Street said a resident pointed a BB gun at her after her dog escaped from its leash into his yard Wednesday afternoon.
The dog had gone into the man’s yard followed by its owner. The resident said he pointed the gun at the dog and not the woman, who stood behind the dog and begged the man not to shoot it. The dog charged the man twice, he said. No arrest was made, but a sheriff’s deputy informed the woman she would be cited if her dog escaped into another person’s yard.
Vandalism
n A vandal damaged a vacant apartment’s sheet rock walls, carpet and kitchen cabinets in the 200 block of McGregor Street, causing $1,360 damage.
n A vandal damaged the front window of a residence in the 4000 of Hammett Road, causing $600 damage.
Fire
A utility trailer and lawnmower were destroyed in a fire reported at 10:48 p.m. Wednesday behind Community Action for Improvement on Lafayette Parkway. The loss was estimated at $3,500.
The fire appeared to be accidental.
