In a previous news article , Hogansville Mayor Jimmy Jackson wanted to open up the city reservoir for fishing and recreation. He talked about spending the money to fix the dirt road that leads to the reservoir, also putting grills and picnic tables on the grounds.
Has the mayor or the city council looked at the roads around Hogansville? At how many pot holes there are just on one street? They need to go to Lincoln and Green Avenue and count the pot holes in that one intersection. All the roads in Hogansville are in bad shape, potholes and the roads have cracks in them forming potholes.
This is just one problem Hogansville has. What about the sidewalks? Tree roots are pushing the sidewalks up and sideways and in some spots the sidewalks are missing. There is a pot hole in the sidewalk on Askew Avenue. These sidewalks are hazardous for people to walk down, especially for the elderly.
As for fishing in the city reservoir, have they forgotten there is a 300-acre landfill being constructed upstream approximately 3/4 miles? Who in their right mind will want to fish in a reservoir and especially eat the fish with the threat of leachace that could contain radioactive material, mercury and many other extremely harmful chemicals coming down the stream that fills the reservoir. Do they know what some of these chemicals can do the the health of a person or the natural environment?
What Hogansville needs is a new leadership (Mayor, Council, City Manger)
