The clerk said the man entered Jameson Inn at 110 Jameson Drive about 8:44 p.m. Sunday. As she asked the man what room he wanted, he pulled out a pistol from under his belt and pointed at her, demanding money.
The clerk opened the register and took out about $300 in currency and rolled coins and placed it in a money bag with the words “thank you” written on it. The man took the money and ran toward LaGrange Mall.
The hotel’s security cameras were not working during the incident.
Youth accused of burglary
West Point police accused a 16-year-old of burglarizing Circle K at 1304 Third Ave.
A security camera showed a youth wearing a black mask kick in the store’s front glass door about 2 a.m. Sunday. He took cigarettes and a cash register, then fled. A police officer on patrol saw the damaged door, and the juvenile was found hiding nearby.
He was charged with burglary, theft by taking, criminal damage to property, giving false information to an officer, unruly juvenile, loitering or prowling and concealing his identity by wearing a mask.
Employee accused of theft
The manager of LongHorn Steak House at 1518 Lafayette Parkway accused an employee of using her personal employee card to create bogus gift cards to exchange for money. Since June 5, the employee made gift cards totaling $402 for her personal use, the manager said.
No arrest was made.
Police: Shoppers harassed by man
LaGrange police arrested three men at Wal-Mart at 803 New Franklin Road when a fight broke out inside the store and in the parking lot.
Police gave this account: A family was shopping when another man began following them around the store and threatening them Saturday night. After the family checked out, the man followed them toward an exit and confronted them. He told the family that they should do something about it if they had a problem with him. He then lunged several times at one of the men, who punched the aggressor. The other man retaliated and pushed him outside in the parking lot, where they exchanged blows. Another family member also got involved by punching the man. Surveillance camera footage showed the entire incident. All three men involved were charged with disorderly conduct.
TV thieves
awaken woman
A woman was awakened by the sounds of burglars rummaging through her residence in the 100 block of Belk Street on Sunday night. The woman opened her bedroom door and saw two men carrying a 50-inch, flat-screen TV toward the front door. When the burglars saw her, they dropped the TV, shoved her back into the bedroom and slammed the door before fleeing.
Burglaries, thefts
— A resident of the 100 block of North Pointe Parkway said a burglar stole a $700 electric stove, a $1,200 king size mattress and a $50 coffee maker from his residence Sunday night.
— A thief stole a wallet containing $300 from a car in the 1300 block of Orchard Hill Road.
Arrests
— Tracy Farrow, 33, of Elm Street was charged with sale of marijuana, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession of a synthetic drug and DUI. Police stopped Farrow’s vehicle at the intersection of Northwood Drive and White Oak Lane on Saturday night.
— Ji Kim, 51, of Creekside Drive was charged with aggravated battery.
— Trinette Boiling, 38, of Wright Street was charged with aggravated assault and obstruction of an officer.
