Government media not the answer

Given that the sitting President won the election, reminding Republicans of this fact early and often, he rightfully possesses the political will to implement sweeping changes and an apparent desire to usher our great nation into an era of statism that may easily teeter toward neo-fascism.

He has already effectively taken the reins of General Motors, has followed a terrible precedent begun under President Bush to close the visitors logs of the White House to the public, has taken steps to cap pay grades in the private sector, and has sacked an Inspector General who dared to investigate the shady dealings of a close friend and campaign contributor.

Those are just the little things. Forget about the nightmarish foreign policy. His idea of domestic policy shouts that the average citizen is too dull to do anything for himself and needs Big Brother in every aspect of life.

I completely disagree. I believe that big government creates slavish citizens, destroys ingenuity and personal motivation while free enterprise and less government spur ambition and teach a greater respect for personal property and achievement.

Yet, according to several published reports, on Wednesday, June 24, ABC News will host a one-sided debate on health care reform in the United States. They will do so from the White House East Room, and the special entitled, “Questions for the President: Prescription for America” will include questions only from those preselected by shills from the All Barack Channel. Given that he won, President Obama can do that.

However, we still have a choice and a vote in the matter. It is very simple. Do you want socialized health care, above what is currently in place with Medicare, Medicaid? Our government, as it is right now, is rife with corruption and waste. We don’t need bigger government. Why add to our misery by giving them something else to control? Rather, to ruin.

So, what’s the choice? Simple. Start with not watching ABC News ever again. Or NBC, CBS, FOX, etc. Decide today not to watch any news affiliate willing to pull a similar third-world media snafu worthy of Al-Jazeera. If you disagree with who’s controlling the discussion, don’t get embroiled in it. Go join in another discussion. Better still, start your own. Don’t go lemming-like quietly into the night.

Secondly, you can hope that there is at least one smart and honest television news executive with a backbone that would put together an hour long program opposite the president exposing the lies of “free health-care for everyone.” Since this type of coverage that the president wants to force on everyone has never worked, it shouldn’t be that difficult to find very many horror stories related to bureaucratic botch jobs. I’m sure plenty of economists would gladly enlighten an audience about the impossibility of finding proper funding for “free” health care for 305 million people.

Whatever you do, don’t believe it just because it has a presidential seal and Charlie Gibson. State-run media has never been trustworthy, nor, at its core, has it had good intentions for its citizens.

The president has the right to hold a censored town-hall meeting at the White House, but I for one hope the ratings show the foolishness of ABC’s partisan decision.

Can I ask what you mean by Al Jazeera's "media snafu" ? Of all television news, Al Jazeera is without a doubt the best source there is. For an article blasting "government media", it seems you have fell for the Government Media's line that Al Jazeera is an anti-American/anti-Israel network that caters to Islamic governments, shows beheadings, and encourages a one sided debate on the Middle East. All of these are completely false and could be figured out within one minute of watching it. the DoD's assassination of Al Jazeera's character came after the network offered the only balanced view to the Iraq invasion. Prior to that the network was praised in the west and around the world for being a balanced news source that routinely aired dissident voices in a repressed section of the world.

Please, tell me what the "third-world media snafu" Al Jazeera is apart of.

If anyone wants to watch Al Jazeera english, download the Livestation program and watch a free live stream.
