Troup American is alive and well.
After falling into the loser’s bracket with Sunday’s loss to Troup National, the 11-12 Troup Americans bounced back with a 12-0 victory over Manchester on Monday.
Troup American (2-1) will face Thomaston at 6 p.m. today with a spot in Wednesday’s championship game on the line.
“I was proud of them,” Troup American coach Perry Prather said. “I was glad to get that win, because our boys were down (after losing to Troup National Sunday).”
Trevor Norris had a dominant outing on the pitcher’s mound for Troup.
The right-hander overpowered Manchester for four innings, striking out seven and giving up just two hits.
“That’s really big,” Prather said. “He really turned it on today.”
Norris, Prather said, was backed up by a defense that was superb.
“I was proud of our pitching and catching today,” Prather said. “They did a good job.”
Troup American scored three runs before breaking it open with seven runs in the second.
Troup capped the scoring with two runs in the third.
Larkin Easterwood had an RBI double for Troup, and Slone Raper, Colby Bridwell, Alexander Clark, David Sweat and Cortney Laye each contributed to the offensive onslaught with hits.
