The action got under way Thursday in the American Softball Association Girls 12-and-under ‘B’ Fastpitch Southern National Championship.

Before the first games, the 10 teams took part in an opening ceremony at Shuford Fields.

Among the teams competing are the Diamond Dollz, a team that includes a mixture of players from LaGrange and Newnan. The Diamond Dollz began their tournament stay with a victory over the Central Baldwin (Ala.) All-Stars.

The tournament continues today, with the championship game set for Saturday.
