Two Troup County baseball teams have already punched their tickets to the Dixie Baseball World Series.
This weekend, two more Troup teams could join the party.
The Troup 9-10 and 11-12 teams are each playing in the championship round of the Dixie Youth Baseball state tournament.
In the 9-10 tournament in Mountain Park in Gwinnett County, Troup County and Lee County will meet for the title.
In the 11-12 tournament in Covington, Troup County will play Albany Dixie in the championship series.
The format is the same in each age group, with the finalists meeting in a best-of-three series.
The finalists will play one game today at 7 p.m., and a second game on Saturday at 10 a.m.
If a third game is needed, it would be Saturday at 2 p.m.
If both Troup teams are victorious this weekend, they’ll join two other local teams in the World Series.
The Troup 13-year-old team won its state tournament, as did the Troup 13-14 team.
Both teams will play in the Dixie Boys Baseball World Series.
Both Troup teams have been dominant this week, cruising to identical 5-0 records.
They each had days off Thursday in preparation for the championship round.
“After six days of being (in Covington), it’s good to get a night’s sleep in their own bed to rest well,” Troup 11-12 coach Huey Hood said.
