National press not objective

There is a lot of debate concerning whether or not members of the national news media are biased for and against certain political persons. While I do not believe that local media outlets are generally prejudiced, I know emphatically that the media in and around Washington D.C. and New York City are not objective.

One example of media prejudice is that President Kennedy was always a favorite with the media elites. Although they were aware that he was involved in many risky adulterous affairs, they completely ignored it. If Kennedy had been a Republican, I’m sure they would have covered the story differently.

Lyndon Johnson, the worst president in the history of our republic, consistently lied about the war in Vietnam. Unfortunately, most members of the media let him get by with it. Even Walter Cronkite, considered an outstanding journalist, gave Johnson a pass on the war. It was only much later that Cronkite publicly said the war was lost. However, he stated this only after fifty thousand of our young men and women died. By that time most everyone knew the management of the war by Johnson was disastrous.

When Richard Nixon was president, the media elites- the Washington Post, New York Times, CBS, NBC, ABC, etc.- showed no objectivity concerning his presidency. I believe unequivocally that they wanted to bring down the Nixon administration at whatever cost.

They never gave Nixon credit for ending the Vietnam War; bringing peace with China and Russia. When President Reagan was asked to define his foreign policy philosophy, he said that he- like Richard Nixon,-believed in peace through strength. Reagan went on to say that Nixon deserved lots of credit in helping America stay militarily strong.

When it comes to Sarah Palin, only Fox News has been fair to her. CBS, NBC, ABC, CNN, and MSNBC have done all they can to make her look like a buffoon. She certainly deserves better.

All I ask from the media is objectivity. I want them to present the facts- and only the facts. The American people are smart enough to filter the news and make up their own minds. We don’t need media professionals dictating what is politically correct.

Yes, members of the media have a constitutional right to communicate news to the public. But you and I also have a right to hold them accountable. To be critical of the media is, therefore, a virtue.

If you are trying to insinuate that the media is favored towards Democrats than Republicans you are sorely mistaken. The media is skewed towards the elite and their interests - which happens to be what both parties represent.

Can't Sarah finish anything? Quitting is nothing new for her, apparently. She quit her governorship after 3 years, which isn't surprising, considering that it took her 6 years and 5 colleges to obtain her Bachelor's in Journalism from Idaho.

She also quit her much vaunted Oil and Gas Commission job in Alaska after less than a year.

I think she lacks patience and perseverance at the very least.

Romney 2012

From the San Jose Mercury News:

Palin began college at Hawaii Pacific University and she attended only as a freshman during the fall of 1982, school spokeswoman Crystale Lopez said.

From Hawaii Pacific, Palin transferred to North Idaho College, a two-year school in Coeur d'Alene, about 30 miles east of Spokane. She attended the college as a general studies major for two semesters, in spring 1983 and fall 1983, spokeswoman Stacy Hudson said.

The school identified one of her professors but he did not remember her, Hudson said.

From North Idaho College, Palin transferred to the University of Idaho. She majored in journalism with an emphasis in broadcast news. She attended Idaho from fall 1984 to spring 1985.

She then returned to Alaska to attend Matanuska-Susitna College in Palmer in fall 1985.

Then she returned to Idaho, for spring 1986, fall 1986 and spring 1987, when she graduated. Despite her journalism degree, she does not appear to have worked for the college newspaper or campus television station, school officials said.
